You might be here because…
You're doing everything right… building your career, showing up for your family, figuring out who you are in this world, this culture, this chapter of life. And still, something feels off.
Maybe you're caught between who you're expected to be and who you actually are. Maybe the anxiety shows up at night when everything's quiet, or in the way you can't stop second-guessing yourself. Maybe you're succeeding by every measure you were raised with and wondering why it STILL doesn't feel like enough.
You're not broken. You're navigating a lot. And you don't have to do it alone.
WhenWe is a counseling practice built for people who are ready to understand themselves more deeply so they can show up more fully in their relationships, their work, and their lives.
The Approach
Therapy that meets you where you are.
Hi there! I’m Hillary, Psychotherapist and Founder of WhenWe Counseling.
I work with adults who are highly self-aware, motivated, and a bit stuck. People who can name what's happening but haven't been able to move through it yet. People who want to feel more connected (to themselves, to others, to the life they're building).
In our work together, we'll look at the whole picture: your patterns, your history, the larger systems and cultural forces that have shaped you. We'll work with both your mind and your body – because healing isn't just cognitive.
My approach draws from various therapeutic modalities focusing on acceptance, thought patterns and narratives, and mindfulness-based practices blended with warmth, humor, and a genuinely non-judgmental presence. As a certified yoga teacher, the mind-body connection is woven into how I work and is available to bring into our sessions if that resonates with you.
Areas I specialize in:
Anxiety & perfectionism
First-generation stressors and acculturation
Identity, belonging, and bicultural experiences
Complex family dynamics and relationships
Life transitions and personal growth
New parenthood
WhenWe is an LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC-inclusive practice.
About Hillary Buzaid Moreno
Hello!
I became a therapist because I'm genuinely curious about people — about the stories we carry, the patterns we repeat, and what becomes possible when we finally put them down.
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago, with a specialization in mental health and a subspecialization in migration. I completed an ACT Fellowship at the University of Chicago and am a 200-hour certified yoga teacher. I'm licensed in Illinois and offer services virtually.
I come from a multicultural background – Middle Eastern and European roots, with a deep connection to Latin culture. I was raised in a blended family and have a blended family of my own. I'm the daughter of an LGBTQ parent and an advocate. I'm also a mother, a scrapbooker, a thrifter, and a cat-lover.
I say all of this because I believe it matters that you know who you're talking to. I come into the therapy space as a professional human – here to walk alongside you, not above you.
My clients describe me as warm, energetic, familiar, and gently challenging. I'll ask the questions that open things up, and I'll check in along the way.
Fluent in English and Spanish.

Inquire about Working Together
When We is built on the vision and impact of coming together.
It is a call to action to come together because we are not meant to go through life alone. It is a reminder that we have much more in common than our fears and pain allow us to see. It is a representation of us being a body and a mind all at once. I hope to reflect these values through creating a compassionate, open, familiar space.
Through When We, the time that you spend building awareness, shifting patterns, and becoming more aligned will lead to a stronger relationship with yourself. I believe that the relationships we have with others are impacted by the quality of our relationship with ourselves. Well-being holds deep roots in community and tribal rituals.
Though we have more information than ever about mental health and general well-being, I intend to create a space that serves as a reminder that the collective is what holds us – that beyond the parameters of your work in a therapy session, being aware of larger systems and forces at play will facilitate a more aligned sense in life outside of therapy.
Coming soon: in-person workshops on mindfulness, reflection, and movement.
